Why a Canadian should pay in US$$ for hotels located on Canadian soil?

I was not sure, where to post this frustration. Therefore, I have posted it here. Dear Administrator, you may please move this post accordingly.

Please read below:
- We are proud to be Canadians. We love Canada. Most of us are living on this graceful and peaceful Canadian soil.
- Most of us are aware regarding GroupOn Toronto / ON / Canada. I have observed that now a days, most of the hotel deals on GroupOn Toronto / ON / Canada (Like Niagara ON, Ottawa ON etc) are available ONLY with payment in US dollars. Disappointingly, GroupOn is not even giving us an option to pay in Canadian $$.
- USA is our closest neighbour and I respect USA as well but, my point is - Why a CANADIAN should pay in US $$ to stay in hotel/s located on a Canadian soil??? Isn't it frustrating?? While making payment is US $$, we end up paying currency exchange, conversion charges, credit card charges and may be additional charges, which we are not even aware of... I We are RFDers, why should we spend our hard earned Canadian $$ in such currency exchange and conversion charges?
- In a way, even being a Canadian, we are not even respecting our own CAD$$ and we are inflating other foreign currency... So very unfortunate...As such, since last few years, our CAD$$ is much southwards than US$$.

- In nutshell, these hotels are on Canadian soil + GropuOn is using GroupOn Toronto/ON/Canada to mislead us (?) + Canadian Citizen BUT, we have to pay in US$$ and, WITHOUT even an option to pay in Canadian $$? Isn't it weird, frustrating and disappointing?

My suggestion is - Why can't GroupOn Toronto / ON / Canada or any such website are not providing us an option to pay in Canadian $$ for any deal/hotels which are located on a Canadian soil??? Any such website MUST give an option to pay in CAD$$.

As such, I have completely stopped buying deals on GroupOn Toronto, if there is no option to pay in Canadian $$.

What do you think? May be, our united voice can reach to GrouOn Toronto and/or any such website and RFDers will be able to make a difference....!!

Happy 150 years, Canada. I love to be a proud a Canadian Citizen.

Yes, I did. Their response was kind of - it is what it is. It's your choice to buy it or not. No Canadian $$ option.

Just use travelzoo or something next time, they usually have similar deals,

Actually, Niagara hotels tend to have similar deals through their websites as well, Embassy Suites loyalty deals are pretty sweet

What hotel are you actually complaining about, I'm on Groupon right now and things are in Canadian dollars

Oh I see some USD ones, just use another site

Create this thread in the "Shopping Discussion" unless the mods do it for you.
Why can't we all just get along?

Thanks for pointing this out. I stopped using GroupOn many years ago. Boycott them ... don't give them any of your business. Don't be wishy washy.

I never used Groupon, I never liked how they did business. Stuff like this just reinforces it. It's bullcrap, delete your Groupon account and vote with your dollars.
