We have our regular app which is designed for our front page experience and then the forums app which will provide a richer experience for our forum users. The forums app is still heavily in development but you can expect a lot of improvements there in the near future.
The forums tab in the regular app just loads up a web view which is exactly what you'd get by opening it in your mobile browser.
