wifi help

guys i have rogers 500u entering my house through the basement with wifi disabled on the modem. The modem is connected via ethernet cable to a archer c2600 upstairs which provides wifi.
Im wondering if i can improve this setup. Should I also enable the wifi on the rogers modem in my basement for better speed/coverage? Thanks so much.

I have a Rogers Hitron 4582 with wifi enabled and a TP-Link AC1750 wi-fi extender. The modem is located under a heat duct in the basement which limits the wireless signal on the 2nd floor. The modem/extended combination gives me good coverage everywhere.

I would only turn on the router functionality on the modem if you have some deadspots in the basement. I doubt the signal would be better on the main floor or upper floor. The main and upper floors should be covered by your Archer c2600 router.

If the c2600 is connected to the Rogers unit using an ethernet cable, you can let the Rogers unit handle all of the routing by disabling DHCP on the c2600, manually assigning an IP address to the c2600 using an address from the Roger's IP address, and connecting the network cable between the Rogers unit and a lan port on the c2600. This will allow you to log into the web gui for the Rogers unit or c2600 through all wired and wireless connections.
