Osprey Farpoint/Fairvew 40L backpack about $120

Deal Link:
Price:
120
Retailer:
Wiggle
My first time starting a thread and so if I am messing anything up - please be gentle!

I have a Farpoint 40 and love it - great as a travel packback. I am now in the market for a Fairview 40 which is sort-of like the female equivalent.

On Wiggle, the Fairview is $94 (for green) and $117 (for grey) while the Farpoint is $120. These are all round numbers because Wiggle is a UK company and I think the price in CAD is converted from GBP. New customers can get $20 off for a $100+ purchase using the code NEWCA which is right on the page. Option for free shipping also.

The unknown is customs - apparently sometimes you get hit with it and sometimes not, based on prior threads on this forum from late last year:
wiggle-com-adidas-ultra-boost-4-0-shoes ... d-2214624/
wiggle-com-adidas-ultra-boost-4-0-shoes ... t-2234660/

Nonetheless, even if there's customs, the price is way lower than what I find in Canada.
Thread Summary
If you are buying the Fairview 40 ( https://www.wiggle.co.uk/osprey-fairview-40-rucksack/ ) and getting the rainforest green one which is $93.55, you can get the Adidas water bottle for $6.46 https://www.wiggle.co.uk/adidas-performance-bottle/ . This will bring the total to $100.01 and allowing you to use the $20 off new customer coupon.

Great deal - i'll jump on this deal at this price, I have a 65L Osprey larger backpack for longer trips and have been waiting for a deal on a smaller carry on sized bag,

If you're a new customer use the code NEWCA for $20 off $100 or more, brings the bag to $100 CAD for me! (Plus any customs if I get hit on that).

Thanks OP!

Can't comment on the deal, but the Osprey bags are amazing for travelling as the wife and I used a 55L and the 40L for our trip to AUS/NZ. Can't recommend them enough if you are looking for a good travel bag.

Excellent bag, used it for two trips in the past few months, can't recommend it enough. Thinking of getting one for my wife.

Is 40L really enough for traveling though?

This is a great price. Excellent bag backed by an exceptional warranty. I highly recommend it.

Never had an issue using it as a carry-on for my onebag travels on any airline. It can get a bit bulky if you stuff it absolutely full though.

There are two downsides to the bag though: First, the weight is a little on the heavy side. If you like travelling with only a carry-on and don't want to go past the usual lowest allowance of 7kg it can be easy to overdo with this bag. Second, the laptop compartment is not on the back of the bag, against your back, rather the front (this can cause some discomfort and maybe put your laptop at risk of damage).

I addressed both issues by simply not travelling with a laptop anymore!

Got the Farpoint 40 bag for 120+tx during SportChek Employee pricing. Very solid bag and comfortable. Carry-on size as well. What I don't like about it are the front pouches where to store water bottles (can't really reach for them without removing the bag) and no compartment for a hydration pack. Some reviews I read mentioned that the laptop/tablet compartment on the exterior pocket doesn't make... should be in the main compartment, closest to your back. Kinda agree with that.

I've ordered several times and as long as you select the slowest shipping speed you shouldn't get hit with customs.

4 separate orders and i've never had any duties/taxes charged on them, but YMMV.

It was $116, then used NEWCA for $20 off, and selected free shipping. :)

it really depends on the person and the season - we just came back from a three week trip to europe, spouse used the farpoint 40 and kept the weight under 8kg...she was skeptical at first but then loved travelling with it.

AM1306 bought the Fairview, which is different from the Farpoint. Fairview is designed for women.
