Good for now but nothing beats the scorching hot target deals last year on the console and even the pro controller.

To me the $189 Windwaker Bundle that I purchased with a PM at TRU from the Indigo sale around Christmas of 2013 beats the Target deal. Love the Wii U Zelda Controller.

And if it doesn't beat it it was at least in the same ballpark.

There have been some decent Wii U console deals over the past few years but a deal on a standalone Pro Controller has been impossible to find.

Not essential at all if you're playing single-player, since the general consensus is the Gamepad is an excellent controller. The only areas the Pro Controller really improves on the Gamepad are battery life (80 hours), and size/weight (if that matters to you).

For local multiplayer you're going to need a second controller, and this is the best second controller you can get for the Wii U.

I actually didn't enjoy my system until I got the pro controller. Now I love Mario 3d in particular, not to mention all the VC games that control so precisely.
