Will brand new tpms battery deplete if left unused

I just ordered a brand new set of tpms from Honda but my existing tpms do not fail yet (maybe in 2-3 years or so). If I left the package unopened will it still have the expected battery life of 5-10 years or the clock is already ticking when the tpms are made?
