will this count as another insurance claim?

I was in a small rear end accident back in November where I was not at fault, so the insurance was obligated to fix my car and bring it back to what it was before.

Now when I picked up the car i noticed the trunk was a bit off... I told them to fix the gaps and they did, leaving the body shop and parking it at home I noticed the top of the trunk was pushed in a bit and I came to a conclusion the insurance paid for a new bumper and not a trunk lid?

Should I call the insurance and tell them "the work wasn't done"? Will it count as another claim under my name? The reason why I want it perfect is because I bought and financed the car by myself about a week before the accident (19 years old) and it was accident free so now I have to look at this ugly trunk lid and I hate it.

Any recommendations?

I don't believe it would fall under a new claim. That being said, you should make sure that you didn't sign anything indicating you accepted the work completed by the insurance's body shop. Also, make sure you return the car to the body shop as soon as possible, indicating that you are not prepared to accept the vehicle in that condition, or phone the insurance company, and indicate that you are no longer ammenable to having that body shop complete the repairs as tehy have failed to do so twice.

When i picked up the vehicle i just picked it up and that's it I never signed anything, was i suppose to? The fact I know a new trunk would cost x2 the amount of a rear bumper i dont think they'll do it for free? Shouldn't i just call the insurance instead?

Respectfully, you're not an insurance adjuster or a body shop, meaning that you're not qualified to determine what the car needs.

The reason I suggest you return it to the body shop ASAP, is to show the insurance company that the level of their repair is completely unacceptable. The last thing you want is for them to claim that something else hit it. If you're not satisfied with that body shop, feel free to take it to your own and have them come up with a written estimate for completing the work. Either way, call the insurance company and inform them of your intentions / dissatisfaction as well.

it's not a new claim. Call your insurer and tell them you want it looked at again.

Indeed, until the case is officially closed from the insurance end (and you get a letter in the mail confirming the case is closed) it will all fall under the same claim

In my case they had to do 2 additionals ontop of the original adjustment, mainly because the adjuster they sent out was an idiot. Just because they say he is the 'best and has been doing it for 20 years' doesn't mean *****... if you're not satisfied ask for them to send a different adjuster to inspect the vehicle.

Will they come to your house to check it out? Not trying to be carless or drive their dirty rentals until they fix it.

After I received the car after the accident, I drove home at night thru traffic only to notice they forgot to plug in my license plate connectors so I could of even got a ticket smh lol...

Not sure about that, I don't see why the adjuster can't come to see it at your home.

When I picked up my car from the body shop, I noticed a day later that one of the shocks had leaked all it's oil out, I just took it back to the shop and the adjuster inspected it there.

How long have you had the car since the repairs were 'complete'?

It was likely just the garage guaranteeing their work and fixing what wasn't done right - doesn't sound like a new claim to me.

Well call them right away tomorrow I would say, the only thing now is it's been so long since the repairs were done they may try to wash their hands of it, how do they know you didn't back into something after the fact?

When you picked up the car from the shop did you get a guarantee of work, or warranty for the repairs done or anything?

Yeah I have lifetime warranty from them, but i think it's more of the work that was "already done" to the car let's say bumper not fully aligned for example etc etc.

And the damage is bent upper trunk lid you can't really fake this damage from backing into something, the top is really not aligned

Yeah the warranty they will give you is for parts replaced or repaired, nothing else

But did the existing claim include the trunk area? Or just fenders?

The thing to do would be have the adjuster go over the pictures from his assessment (they should have given you a copy of those as well), the trunk lid not aligning should be easy to see from those
