Wireless speeds are messed up

Not sure if anyone can help, but I have a DLINK DIR-880L and I did modem resets/router resets but my wireless peeds on 2.4/5 are slow. When I plug in directly to the router, I can get 220mbps, but on wireless I get 35mbps. Direct on the modem, I get also 220mbps, so it's something with the wireless. I just did a firmware upgrade too, but if anyone has any ideas or had this before, it would be great to know how to fix it? Thanks!

Maybe your laptops wireless adapter is not fast enough. You can start off by saying what type of adapter frequency you are using?

Start off by flashing DD-WRT. I have the same router, and it made a huge difference in terms of reliability. It might also help your situation with speed.

I have no problems getting 200+ mbps sitting close enough to the router using my laptop.

Check your QoS setting and see if WMM (Wi-fi multimedia) is enabled. If it disabled, you're capped at 60mbps instead of your full speed. This is what it looks like from my Netgear router.

That doesnt compute. Unless you have QOS settings enabled to keep you at 60mbps

I flashed to DD-WRT, and still was stuck at 40ish. Then re-flashed to stock firmware, newest one. Then 5GHZ started getting 230mbps down. No idea what happened but on 5ghz I get full speed now. Thanks everyone.

Why do people think wireless performance is equal to wired? There are so many variables affecting wireless performance, be happy that it works. 40 mbits is fine for 2.4 with 20 mhz channel width.
