Is it worth it to buy open box TVs from Best Buy?

Has anyone purchased open box 65+ inch TV from best buy website before? Is it worth the 10% savings to buy open box?

Depends on the savings. What are we looking at in savings? $100, $200, $300, $400?

10% for open box return -- sight unseen. No way. You could probably buy new for less when on sale or visit a shop and negotiate.

I did it before. It was a small insignia TV and worked okay. But I suggest that you think twice for 65+ ..

I have. It was heavily discounted. It was in perfect condition and working order. It was missing the two AA batteries for the remote. I called in and they gave me an additional $20 off.

I don't think you have anything to lose because it you do not like it or there is an issue, you may still return it.

I bought a 55" Samsung display model over 10 years ago at Future Shop. Still running perfectly fine.

I bought a flatscreen once that was open box.
Didn’t have the original remote so it was cheaper. I got a free universal remote with it.
Lasted few yrs so it was ok

Probably check , these days you’d want the original remote for it....

Okay to buy if you returned it.

1) Buy TV
2) Return it
3) Re-buy returned TV
= savings of $100+ for a brand new TV with no problems

For a 10% discount, i wouldn't consider it. You are basically betting to see if the returned TV is perfectly fine or if its a bad panel that someone decided to exchange. Honestly given the size, its not worth it because if there is something wrong with the panel, you probably will be going back to return it. The work to pack and unpack a 65" TV really isn't worth a 10% saving. That isn't even factoring in the extra legwork you might need to do during covid...
