Would a notebook from newegg have a north american keyboard?

Since it would appear newegg ships everything from California - would it be safe to order an HP notebook from them and assume it won't have a European keyboard?

I would assume NewEgg.ca wants to cater to more than just english speaking canadians so I am sure they sell notebooks that come with a bilingual keyboard. Before you order look under the "specifications" section of the page and scroll down to keyboard and make sure it says "standard" and not bilingual. Most are all standard anyways.

Most of the laptops sold with a European keyboard are not described as having one,

What's "European" keyboard. There are many countries in Europe and many languages.
"Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent." - US President, Calvin Coolidge

The "European" keyboard the OP talks about is the Canadian Keyboard Layout.

Most computers sold outside Quebec come with a US style keyboard, wheras those purchased in Quebec have the Canadian layout - it is designed to incorporate the needs of the french language, mainly easy access to the accents on the letters. It's also a pain in the ass to use if you're used to the US layout.

Check my signature to see what a Canadian bilingual keyboard looks like, what has been imposed on us as a "Bilingual Canadian Keyboard" is most popular among the french/english bilingual in France and Switzerland as an alternative to AZERTY or the US International layout which lacks the alt.gr on the left side of the keyboard.
