Koodo Samsung Galaxy A8, they pay you $24.70 YMMV

Deal Link:
Price:
-$24.70
Retailer:
WOW! Mobile Boutique
Called up WOW. They are offering the Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) on the small tab. You'll get $50 for an old trade-in and $225 in Vanilla Prepaid MC. I mentioned the Walmart deal and they matched the extra $150. YMMV

So I paid $120 (with small tab) - $50 (trade-in) = $70 + tax ($79.10).

Small tab is $10x24 = $240 + tax ($271.20)

Total is $79.10 + $271.20 - $375 (gift cards) = -$24.70

On a small tab, you will have to pay $120 upfront. An upfront payment is IMPORTANT at WOW so you can use your $50 trade-in to offset the cost of the phone and not some unnecessary accessory. THIS is why the WOW deal is much more superior than the Walmart one. You get an extra $50 for an old flip or bar phone.

My calcs are for those staying with Koodo. For those that want to cancel right away and profit from Kijiji, do your own math with the $30 activation fees.

Only if you forget that you have a tab outstanding.
When given enough time, all threads on RFD can and will go off on a tangent.

There is a credit check when you open the account, but as long as you pay the remaining balance after cancelling, there's no effect on your credit.

Wasn't there a 30$+tax activation fee? also 10$+tax for SIM card?
Stay strong, situation always looks harder and that it will never end when you are in the middle of it, but remember past experiences, everything has an ending.

That fee will apparently show up on your first invoice, so I didn't see it. They also said it will be reimbursed after 3 months or so.

Yeah, but you should include in your cost calculation never the less. Also, most of the folks here won't stay more than a day ;).

Not intending to leave Koodo, but that's a good point.

That's awesome.

Can I get one over the phone or online?
Or is this only do-able in store?

By my calculation, you'd still owe a small amount in Ontario after trade in.

Upfront cost is 120-50=70*1.13=$79.10

On the Bill should be Small tab, connection fee and one day of service (assuming you pick $30 plan). 240+30+1=271*1.13=$306.23.

So not quite free, but a $10 phone isn't bad at all.

Considering it resells for 350-400 it’s literally 300-400 for free isn’t it?
