Mine have been working all day today (V2 and V1 mix).
Basil: Well, may I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? The Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically -?

Hmm, let me power off then on.

Edit
Power off then on did not work.
Click on WYZE app on my iPad, it quits right the way. Can’t access the cam. Do I need to delete then re-install the app, wonder?

Edit 2
Power down - does not work
Switch USB adapter - does not work
WYZE posted an outage with IOS 12.5.5 and below. They are working on it. My iPad is 12.5.5

For all of you who have a Wyze camera, do you also pay the monthly subscription for the cam plus?

I had the free trial and found it pretty useless, but it is even more useless without the subscription.

There appear to be several features that don't work properly including the detection zone - I'm able to set my detection zone but it still triggers motion events outside of the detection zone.

I was using without SD card and it would only keep the last hour of recordings, which I find completely lacking.

I added a SD card and the 'continuous' recording doesn't record anything. When it's events only - it just shows a timeline...there's no indication if there's an event.

It won't show a person that's clearly in the detection zone but shows cars passing by outside the detection zone - completely useless.

The device rules and triggers also don't work.

I've contacted support and the response was shocking... the person knew nothing. I've tried contacting them again several times and the only option is to call a New York #.

I most likely will be returning it given all these issues.

I found same thing. Mine is v2, using for almost 3 years without subscription. Ever since, they started charging for services. I found it is more useless, firmware/site is even worse. Glad I am not paying. It's a cheap toy.

I have the original square using RTSP hacks on it. I also have a V3 and have the camplus subscription. I was planning to just play with it until the official RTSP firmware came out but I find the AI logic works pretty good in notifying me for:
1 - human
2 - car
3 - package

I plan on keep my V3 (mounted outside) with camplus - it works great and my V0 (inside) watches the V3 and area.

When I first got it, the AI didn't work .. but then on a hunch I blocked off a post in front of the camera scan area and suddenly it worked like it was supposed to.

It's not a perfect system, actually no where close. I've had Amazon delivery folks walk up my driveway, leave a package and walk slowly back to their car. No alerts, no motion nor any person notification. I had bought a 1 year license but I won't be renewing. Completely useless if it only works half the time and even more so if you don't even know it's not working.

I had the same AI issues - it would notify me for motion and I could see it tracking the person/car/package with a box around it but it was not being flagged as such by the AI.
Check your settings->detection settings particularly the detection zone to make sure it can scan areas you want and ignore areas that could be problems like a bush moving in the wind.

After I fiddled with those settings I had it working.

Yup. Trust me. I've tried them all. I literally watched amazon and ups drivers drop off packages days on end and I would get only some alerts. I even walked out once a delivery was made and it recognized me, so not sure what happens 10 minutes earlier.

At one point, the camera settings had motion and all detection off.... When I swear I was receiving them the day before and for some reason, the detection was disabled. This happened over the summer and hasn't happened since (or so I think but how would I know anyways) but I've lost any trust in that matter.

It works I guess for the price you pay but I'm just not willing to pay a reoccurring fee for it anymore, especially when it adds up. At times, cameras even stop working and I just wait it out and it starts working again. But it would be nice to know a camera is down. Who knows how many times it has been down before. I have one eufy cam and have not had these issues at all.

Software can be amazing and worth the price but if the hardware still lacks, what good is the software.

I've already devoted resources now to set up local cameras and just do rtsp with the wyze ones I have once the sub is over.

Real Time Streaming Protocol
The Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) is a network control protocol designed for use in entertainment and communications systems to control streaming ..
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_Time ... g_Protocol

A standard streaming and control protocol commonly used for IP cams which should be universally supported by all brands and models, but which manufacturers have increasingly been dropping in favor of proprietary protocols and lucrative subscriptions.

Wyze somewhat grudgingly offers an alternative version of their firmware that supports RTSP, while warning that it will not be kept up to date, or get all functions, or be thoroughly debugged. It lets you use the Wyze cams with 3rd-party software for recording and monitoring that supports RTSP.

That said, the Wyze Cam should still be considered a "toy", so if you want to use it for home security, there various quirks and hurdles when it comes to using it. I recently found out some peculiar things that were not apparent before buying one.

1) It's heavily internet and app based. To set it up, it needs an internet connection, and to do anything with it you need to use the app. I thought that the app can communicate directly with the camera if your phone is on the same LAN, but apparently not so. It appears the camera connects to the wyze cloud, and so does the app, so without internet you won't have control over the camera.

2) It wants to know a lot of information to set up. Give them your SSID, wifi password, phone number, email etc. through the app so you can set up your cam. You can't just connect to a computer or preload setting on an SD card, using the app and divulging info is mandatory.

3) You can't call your network certain names or it will refuse to connect. I have a separate router I intended to use for offline video recording and called it "COVID 5G TEST ROUTER". Wyse says it doesn't support 5G networks and will not let me connect! That's really silly to limit connectivity based on SSID name.

4) Using without an SD card as local storage can be spotty, the wifi can drop rather easily considering it has no external antenna. Haven't used it long enough to see if it can recover from a power outage unattended, I read that if it goes down and comes back up and your router isn't ready, it won't connect and you need to manually reboot it. Again, unconfirmed myself.

Otherwise the video quality, particularly low light without IR is very good. Build quality and mounting options are also excellent - the cam is light and can be easily mounted just about anywhere, plus you can unscrew the pivoting base and the hole allows the cam to be threaded onto a tripod for portable mounting.

I have had the V2 and the V3. No CamPlus subscription.
I have a SD card in every camera and it records 24hrs a day for several days [depends on how big the card is - mine are high endurance 32GB cards $13 on Amazon.ca]. They really need to put "markers" when it sees motion/ppl etc on the "playback" timeline [my Nest Hello has these markers].

Motion is problematic at times because any and every bit of motion triggers the "event" recording for 12sec and then it times out for X min before another "event" recording can be recorded. What I did on mine is try and set narrower zones where motion is less likely [if you have plants or shadows from plants and they blow in the wind even a bit, motion event recording is triggered].

I don't think I have any rules or triggers running.

It's not perfect and perhaps CamPlus is worth buying at $15/yr [that's less than the cost of a BahnMi Sandwich at Ca Phe Rang [new Viet restaurant downtown]. Truth is we probably all spend $15 without thinking too much.
We're all bozos on the bus until we find a way to express ourselves...

Failure is always an option...just not the preferred one!
