Xbox controller for PC gaming?

I know someone who wants an XBox controller to use for PC games (and doesn’t have an Xbox).

Does it matter which kind to get (wired vs wireless, old vs new Xbox, etc?)

The new one for Xbox Series X can be used via bluetooth. It can also be used with a wireless adapter that comes in a more expensive package. The regular retail price for each:

Regular Xbox Series X Controller: $75
Xbox Series X Controller with Wireless Adapter: $100

With the wireless adapter, it has slightly less lag than on bluetooth while also allowing all Xbox Controllers and headsets you're using (specifically the Xbox one I believe, not ANY headset; and up to 8 controllers I think) all from that single adapter instead of multiple devices connected via bluetooth. Can also be use wired via USB-C without battery. Wireless would require either 2 AA batteries or a battery pack.

I have built in Wifi and Bluetooth on my Asus Strix motherboard and can connect to it wirelessly through BT. Works great and better in overall compatibility over my PS5 Dualsenses or even PS4 DS4.
