Xbox games with gold?

I always had a subscription to GOLD. I stopped awhile ago. I played games offline. I recently signed up for one month. I then downloaded a free game with gold. My one month ended.

Don’t I get to keep and play the game I downloaded? I didn’t think you needed to keep a gold subscription to keep playing?

Whatever XBox One games you added when you have an active Gold subscription can only be played again when you have an active Gold membership again.
Only XBox 360 games can be kept and played without an active Gold subscription.
