I wonder if their bootloader unlock policy is still stupid.
I'm not buying a Xiaomi that's not an Android One until I can unlock my bootloader in a sane amount of time (ie NOT 30 days.)
Do you not have anything else to do rather than argue with strangers on the internet
Nope. That's why I'm on the internet arguing with strangers. If I had anything better to do I'd probably be doing it.

Slightly less insane than 30 days (or worse yet 60 days) but still pretty stupid.

I wish it was 0 days like basically every other manufacturer because they do have decent hardware for the price.

At least they aren't like Samsung/LG where the bootloader is locked and unlocking it voids your warranty

The warranty actually stays intact with Xiaomi?
I'm actually surprised.

You can grab the Chinese version & not have any issue.

Except it doesn't come with Google play on it and, if it's anything like the mi 8,after you install Google services you can't make purchases through the play store.

Was the issue only in Mi 8?
I recall in the past you can sideload Google & have no issue.

This doesn't have ois. Why is the score so high? Does eis make up for it?

Huawei is the only other company off hand that I can think of that's stupid because they killed unlocking altogether.

Everyone else I've used (Motorola, LG, Samsung, Lenovo, HTC, and a couple other Chinese ones) has either sane bootloader unlocking or there's a decent hack for it
I don't know the policies of all the listed manufacturers but I've used devices from all of the above without major unlocking issues.

Neither LG nor Samsung phones for Canada have had unlocked bootloader or even root-ability for a long while. None of the other companies lately has high end phones worth talking about.

No OIS, but there's a 48MP sensor that's pixel-binned to get high quality 12MP images, similar to the 40MP on Huawei phones.
