Xiaomi Mi boxes now taking Oreo update!

A friend phoned to let me know so just passing this along.

Just took the update...rebooting now...

Wow! Different look. Slick. Google Assustant would interfere with my Google Mini though as the boxes are side by side.

Thanks. Very nice and quicker update than a lot of Android phones. I had problems of sideloading some apps like Mobdro before, no problem now. :)

I have the Nvidia Shield - but want another box for the basement - Is the Mi Box 3 the one to get these days?

I'm super happy with the new update. Does anybody have any good or interesting suggestions for apps to install or try out ... I.e. like Mondeo or terranium.. not necessarily video streaming apps but anything cool made for Android tv?

Its not bad...

Best feature is that you can now remove all the bloatware/pre-installed apps like, redbull tv, netflix from your home screen.

One feature that i miss from my minix android STB was the ability to use my webcam and skype.

Skype just refused to work on the mibox before.

Will try installing skype this weekend to see if they made it work properly in Oreo.

Finally.

I still have two Nexus players running Oreo and they work great. The MI Box gets used the most, but the dated software was annoying. Wi update when I get home from work.

Mi Box feels sluggish now. Terrarnium search is broken for me as well.

Do you have an old version of Terrarium? I just updated my MI Box and everything is working great. Even Terrarium.

I installed it(chrome browser) but it's not easy to use. I just use puff browser (i think that's what it is called).. I did sideload gdrive though as it's useful for getting APK files without usb etc. To install apps grab them from apkpure put them on usb and use es file explorer.. I do that for gdrive.. then just use gdrive after that.

very much regret upgrading to Oreo.
Broke my connection to the TV via Sony sound bar.
all worked with previous version, but now getting error message "the content cannot be displayed. Please connect unit with HDMI input which supports HDCP 2.2"
Apparently, if i connect it directly to the TV it automatically chooses right settings, but for pass through via the Soundbar it sends wrong signal.
the box is useless for me now, looking for a way to revert back to v6
IT Services provider in Ottawa area.

My Mi box is screwed now as well.
The screen goes black for 5 - 10 seconds every minute or two.
Tried a factory reset but no change.

Im not going to update my second one..

Since I only intend to use it with Kodi and local USB flash drive, I really hope the Mi Box that I ordered is not shipped with Oreo. :mad:
