Deal Link:

This is its regular non-discounted price, going back to at least mid December. It jumps to $179.99 every now and then, and has maybe shown as “discounted” from $159.99 twice since January, though now it's showing as "discounted" from $149.99.

It’s a great drive. Picked one up earlier this year for my primary gaming rig, have put it in another one recently, and they’re both happily singing away. Will be picking up a few more later this spring for some other rigs and three gaming laptops.

You might get lucky but if you get one that doesn't work kiss your $139.99 goodbye. Check out some of the bad reviews on Amazon.

SSD's are one of those things that kind of just work until you throw them out. Budget SSD's are starting to offer 5 year warranties. I wouldn't be worried about buying this for reliability. But that Adata tends to switch out components for coat savings at the cost of performance.

General recommendation, wait for and go for 2TB. These consoles will last you about 5+ years, 1TB will get thr job done BUUUT you will eventually have 2 COD get and fill half of it + after a while you would prefer your ps4 games onto the onboard storage and before you know it... you are tapped out Smiling Face With Open Mouth And Cold Sweat

My 2 cents, do whatever you desire per usual Thumbs Up Sign

I can guarantee I won’t ever have 2 call of duty games installed.

Nothing worse than shock posts posted by people who obviously know nothing about SSDs but for what they heard or read. This SSD has a 4.6 of 5 with just about 2000 people rating it. And you mention failure and dig up garbage like this? Like our dislike ADATA, you obviously shouldn't be posting ANYTHING relating to SSDs.

This SSD contains the Innogrit Ranier controller and Micron 176-layer TLC and is very highly rated everywhere. Having it in hand, I can personally say this is arguably one of the best upper tier SSDs out there. But I guess over 7GB/s and over a million IOPS doesn't interest you at all.

But wait... You brought up failure rate. Have you an idea as to how very few SSDs actually fail? Your chances of getting into a plane crash are better.

As for capacity, price is right but make sure that 1TB will be enough for your needs.

I've worked in IT my whole life, starting before SSD's even existed. The only SSD's ive ever had fail were early OCZ drives, and they started failing within a month of use.
I have SSDs that are over 10 years old that have been pinned running with constant read writes their whole live and they're still fine.
In my experience, i've had more spinning rust mechanical drives fail. Even the cheapest SSD is more reliable than a spinning disk.
Also performance benchmarks have been blown out of proportion. Aside from running crystal benchmark you cannot tell the difference between an entry SSD and some flagship. I see so many posts on here with comments like "that's dram-less, don't buy it". But no actual explanation of why. It's just people regurgitating what they read on some benchmark website.
I've been putting the cheapest SSDs in everything I own or work on for 10+ years and aside from those early OCZ SSDs, nothing has ever failed, and their speed is never bottlenecking anything i do.

As an example: I'm working from a laptop with a kingston NV1, my PS5 has an S50 Lite.

I go way back as well and I think that was a supporting post. I have an intricate knowledge of all things flash and still have some OCZ drives buried behind me I am sure. Most don't realize the value off those early OCZ drives with SandForce... And even the infamous JMicron stuttering controller. They were the pioneers that brought us to where we are today. They pushed things forward and, in result, got the hardest knocks. OCZ today is under the KIOXIA name and people haven't a clue how things would simply stop functioning as they are today without their efforts.

Very few even know that there were much fewer flash pioneers than realized as, back then, simply changing a branding sticker on the same drive was very common. A perfect example was the Intel X-25m rebranded as the Kingston SSDNow... Exact same SSD, diff sticker.

Bought it last time for $149.99 from memory express. It's been perfect in my ps5. Not sure why people feel it necessary to go for the 980 Pro in their consoles - this drive is perfect for the ps5.

So is this a good drive for the PS5? It would need a heat sink I would imagine

Good drive. Using the 2TB version in the PS5 with a heatsink and no complaints at all.
