I was just about to type that...I'll tell my sibling for my niece. Best deal I've seen.

Can a 9 year old operate a CIBC Investor's Edge account?

My kids only can get $100 cause the other $50 needs direct deposit. It's hard for a kid to have a payroll.
CIBC Investor's Edge requires at least 18 years old.

Thanks! Why would they say $150? Can you payroll deposit their CCB or whatever that is?

Open your first chequing account with the Smart Start benefit. Within 2 months, complete up to 3 of the following:

Get $50 when you provide your email address.
Get $50 when you complete 1 ongoing direct deposit.
Get $50 when you complete one of:
2 different ongoing pre-authorized debits;
2 Visa* Debit purchases; or
2 online bill payments of at least $50 each

I'm not sure if CCB works cause the name is different.

I remember back in the day that RFD was using this synthetic service to create self-controlled PAD requests to the banks to collect account opening bonuses. Wonder if they can be deployed here...

Pre-authorized debit is very easy. Wealthsimple trade and Questrade can easily done the job. Also the alternative way is 2 Visa debit purchases even easier.
I think the hard part is direct deposit.

Oh sorry, I meant direct deposit. I know nothing about this banking stuff! I'm a discount broker dude.
Yeah PAD is very easy.

Not making a new thread, but did anyone with CIBC youth accounts get snail mail about their accounts changing?

For Kid 1, I got a letter saying the account would convert automatically. (under 12)
For Kid 2, I got a letter saying I had to open the new Smart account and transfer manually. (over 13)

Both accounts were created at the same time. WTF CIBC..

Essentially, they're getting rid of joint accounts or something along those lines.
