It's a physical device for two-factor authentication for a bunch of services. You know how you can required a 6-digit TOTP code (e.g. in Google Authenticator) to securely log in to your account somewhere? The YubiKey basically functions as another way of doing that, assuming it's supported by YubiKey, of course. You plug it into a USB port and use your finger instead of providing the 6-digit code or NFC tap on a compatible device. That's how I understand it, but RFDers feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

If you add a single $3 lanyard it drops your shipping to $7 instead of $10 for some weird reason - essentially becomes a free lanyard. If you add more than one then shipping becomes $30.
