Ziploc / Freezer Bag Calculation Thread

As i have been doing calculations for ziploc / freezer bags from various vendors and i have been sharing them on here, might as well start its own thread to keep historical data and as usual add more data points as they become available. Here are some stats i have so far, please note all prices are SALE prices for when i see them in a flyer or if someone posts a deal in HOT Deals section.

If you need something calculated then please PM me or post it here for me to calculate, I can add it in this thread. I will need date, store, brand, price, count, and dimension of bags

Note: I have not ranked them as they are different sizes but i have grouped them by vendor.
Note: I have ranked the bags by size first and then by price, so similar sized bags get grouped together.

thanks

Maybe show the bag volume on each line? Might just be me, but length and width are harder for me to relate to. And aren't there some bags now that have folded bottoms, which would seem to mean more volume for the same HxW?

I like the President's Choice freezer bags. I can only find the medium size on the Click and Collect site - 150 bags for $9.98 (17.7 cm x 19.5 cm)...that seems like a good deal. I think the large is the same price but it's for 120 count (26.8 cm x 27.3 cm). I haven't been buying ziploc-type bags since I bought my vacuum sealer but they still have their uses.

I will see what i can do - if the volume of the bag is listed on every box i can toss that in.

Dental floss is basically one dimensional calculation $ / length. I guess we can do one but i think everyone likes different types of floss, i actually liked the ones that come on a plastic handle in a big pack but costco doesn't carry them anymore so i am fumbling with the string based one that is not thready!

Another great thread !

We prefer Ziploc, so understandably try to find a good deal when we can... and sort of by accident, we started keeping track of Costco’s pricing over the last few times we’ve stocked up... when Costco labelled them as ON SALE

ZIPLOC SANDWICH BAGS
16.5 cm x 14.9 cm = 150 Bags to Box

Costco - March 2015
4 Boxes of 150 (600 Bags) = $ 13.99

Costco - January 2018
4 Boxes of 150 (600 Bags) = $ 11.79
.
.
ZIPLOC MEDIUM FREEZER BAGS
17.7 cm x 18.8 cm = 50 Bags to Box

Costco - October 2017
3 Boxes of 50 (150 Bags) = $ 8.89

Costco - January 2018
3 Boxes of 50 (150 Bags) = $ 8.89
.
.
ZIPLOC LARGE FREEZER BAGS
26.8 cm x 27.3 cm = 40 Bags to Box

Costco - August 2016
3 Boxes of 40 (120 Bags) = $ 10.99
.
.
.
As an aside... what I am currently trying to gather data on, and find a good source of for SALE Pricing is the
ZIPLOC PERFECT PORTIONS BAGS
19.7 cm x 28.6 cm = 75 Bags to Box

These are the thinner variety without a zipper for wrapping / freezing individual portions.
They are great... come in handy when one buys Club Sized Meat Packs

Costco doesn’t carry them... and everywhere seems to sell them a box at a time, and they are therefore not cheap

Any help much appreciated

Might as well add food wrap spreadsheets too for plastic wrap, aluminum foil, wax/parchment paper.

Standard alcan sales seem to be $1 for 25' but on occasion I've seen $2.99 for 100'

Perhaps garbage and kitchen bags as well.

Where are you located? city? I can add your historic data as well.
For portions to freezer why not use ziploc type bags and vacuum seal them?
Also have you tried PC brand ziploc bags i hear they are excellent.

Plastic Wrap cheapest is kirkland by far - the only thing is it seems a bit thinner than glad but still very cheap. To come to costco pricing a 30m x 29.5cm roll has to be around $0.57 a piece
We don't use much aluminum foil, but i suspect its cheaper at costco as well. I will watch Foil as well.

Eastern Ontario, not far from the Quebec Border.
We source primarily from both Costco’s in Kingston and the Ottawa area
(prices & Products are pretty much identical)

Not into vacuum sealing... just don’t have the space for a Food Saver System.

So for us Ziploc Bags do the trick.
Plus Ziploc Bags can be used for so much more than just food storage

Other brands of zippered bags have proved disappointing
We tried PC Brand, and did not like them... sometimes the zippers were weak / did not line up properly
So not worth any cost saving to us

Before Ziploc offered their Perfect Portion Bags, we just used baggies, but we much prefer this newer Ziploc product
It’s a nice size, and easy to use
Put our hand into the bag... pick up the steak, and flip the bag inside out, twist the top... insert portioned item into a larger ziploc bag that keeps all that cut of meat and freeze
.
.
Good tips on Wraps (Cling - Aluminum Foil - Waxed Paper - Parchment)
Lot of sources... Costco for quality / quantity
Everything in between to the Dollar Store carries these products

We don’t go thru much of this stuff personally... Rolls will last for eons
We source much of ours in the US
Always finding deals for example at prices 50% less than we pay here:

Parchment Paper - Double Roll
17 inches x 16.9 yards (71 sq ft)
Christmas Tree Shops = $ 3.00 November 2015
Regularly see Single Rolls in the $ 2.00 range ... which is still cheaper than here
