Roam mobility (might not be able to get a sim in time) or buy a prepaid sim from T-Mobile or Verizon when in you get to the US. The cost of a prepaid sim/plan from one of the US carriers ($20-30) is only a bit more expensive comparable to any of the "roam like home" features from the big 3.

$70 upfront on $36 plan.
$0 on $40.5 plan.
Update: it is $75 upfront for the $36 plan - not $70.

$40.5 plan has free unlimited incoming minutes. It costs you extra $108 for 24 months. If you don't need unlimited minutes, it is better to pay the $75 upfront to get the $36 plan.

GR5 is harder to sell because of the brand recognition. Do you get any low ball offers on Kijiji?
It may be easier to sell on eBay with more buyers than your local buyer. But the risk of getting scam is higher.
It will be a different story if our GR5 is a dual SIM version.
No one has found a way to hack it for dual SIM yet.

- Red & White Flag…
I have an S9 so I don't plan on keeping the phone Zoomer provides or maybe turn it into a farming phone. Is the J3 Prime the most worth to sell? I'm not gonna look to get much from it, ideally $100 or $120 from it so it can cover a few months of the plan.
If it's not free, it's too expensive...

It is up to you after 8 months.
You may not get another offer for a long time. What is the high and low asking price at your local Kijiji market? If $150 is at the middle of your local Kijiji price range, it may be the best you can get.

There's only 1 other person in my area (Kitchener) selling the same phone and they're asking $165. People in Toronto are posting it for $120-$200 so I guess it's a decent offer. I got a bid from someone in Botswana on eBay for $200 though, LOL. It's been on eBay for about 1 month and no other offers.

HELP! I been follow this thread for a while now and haven't seen this issue I'm encountering. I signed up with Zoomer around Mar 27th and received the package today, I had told them I would like to port a number over, they said when you get the package, call in. The sim was in the phone registered with a number. I called this afternoon and told them I would like to port a Petro Canada Mobilty prepaid number. They are asking me for an account number which I do not have. I usually log into PCM online and pay thru the website, there is no account #. Can anyone tell me how they did their porting from PCM?
Thanks.
EDIT, in case anyone has this problem. PCM said to tell them to leave acct# blank and use your security number to port.
Thanks.

In most of the MVNO cases (ie: PCM and Speakout): your account number is your phone number. To port successfully, your account number and PIN are needed. Having the IMEI # of your phone would also aid in porting to another carrier.
