What a garbage service. They make things so difficult for users. It's not that it's not user-friendly, it's legitimately user-hostile. And they wonder why piracy is a thing.

Looks like they're forcing everyone into Crave + HBO now
Yeah, I can’t imagine there were a lot of people subscribing to the 10$ base Crave plan. I guess most people were on the 20$ plan that included Movies, HBO and Showtime. This repackaging is great for bilingual people, as it seems to also include Super Écran, so French and English content is no longer segregated.

You can see it on my image in the 1st page of this thread and/or here: https://www.crave.ca/en/support/how-man ... t-14611434

Additionally, Crave is already doing some 4k streams and are updating to do all future programming in 4k if available.

So i never paid for the Crave + HBO pack, so it seems i've been auto grandfathered into the Total w/o any additional charges until my renewal is up

with that said, the only thing i'm concerned about is the "Good" streaming rating on the mobile
i seem to be in the minority in this thread, but i only run Crave on one device (android box) so i'm happy with the mobile option as long as the quality isn't shite

I don't think Crave Mobile will work on your android box. Crave Total will.

I haven't used it in a year, but last time the quality was disgustingly bad (on the odd occasion that it loaded properly).

Anyone with a home-theatre-type setup comment if it's gotten any better ?

So now they are differentiating by the type of device I use? Insanity, it's 2021. This reminds me of the early days of the web and mobile

It is quite easy to manage sharing one account with multiple households if "4 concurrent streams" is the only limit (like Disney+, Netflix). I am sure their "up to five registered devices" is to try to slow down / prevent such sharing.

My question is whether one can deregister device / register different device at will (multiple times a day without limit), or is there some limit associated with that?
Amerifriend threads need to include instructions on how to acquire an amerifriend.

So if you sign up for the mobile service, what prevents you from 'casting' or physically connecting via HDMI cable, your tablet to your television?

i see alot of negativity about crave, but i just completed a 4 month "trial" (5$ a month) and had nothing but positives about the service. i used it solely from my firestick to a 58 inch TV and had no quality issues, no buffering, no anything.

Utter failure from streaming service in 2021.
Resolution is only part of picture quality, youtube shows us how even 4k can be of subpar quality.. but youtube is free. Bitrate, codec used and even the app itself have an effect on pq. I honestly dont think most people care much, I mean a large portion of people were watching cam recordings on cheap android boxes running kodi for a good while.

To think I just bought a 1-year Crave + HBO Max for $200. Sad I can't see the Movies on release date. Dune would be worth a months subscription maybe more if the rest of the family watched it with me.

It's been ok lately - I'm interested to see if I notice an improvement with the plan changes. Still a lot of bad compression in black backgrounds and stuff.

You have a limit of how many times you can register and deregister a month (I'm pretty sure it's 10), unless that changes with the new packages as well.

It's still really, really stupid though. The process to register is a pain in the ass, and if you have anything blocking cookies it just straight doesnt work.

Seems like this is the kind of service for which satisfaction varies greatly from one user to another, depending on set-up and devices used, and how sensible they are to video quality.

For the limited time I used it I the past, I never had any technical problems using it with Apple TV. My parents don’t have any problems either with Fire Stick. My main issue was with video quality with a lot of compression artifacts visible, on a 65 inch tv. Not sure if quality is better now.

As far as content goes, HBO is hard to beat. Add to this the collection of semi-recent movies (formerly The Movie Networks) and Showtime content, it’s a pretty good value for the price (HBO in the states is 15$ USD, so more expensive. Netflix 4K is same price).

Crave is not streaming Dune.

Dune was available on HBO Max on October 21 at 6 pm ET and it will leave the service after 30 days.

At last! Now that is a real perk to this change (though it won't really attract that many people).

It was so stupid to segregate that, a lot of films were just dubbed in French.

And the sooner they get 4K, the better.
