How is she liking it so far if you don't mind me asking?
I'm not sure. She was very smart and pretty. I figured she would've gone for the Big 4 (they are so reputed) or industry if she wanted to leave Edmonton. And with the CRA primarily revolving around Tax, it seems more boring than auditing in some senses.

Will CRA freeze hiring due to Covid-19 and the related economic issues? Do government services behave the same way as private corporations during recession?

Most likely managers are not in the position to hire at this moment due to the federal budget being delayed.

My son works in Victoria and all non essential staff have been sent home til April 3rd. I believe they were going to hire 10 people but that will be on the back burner.

I had the same question. I'm already in the pool of candidates for the SP04 position in Surrey, BC. But I'm not sure if they'd still hire given the current state of affairs. The pool I'm in is open until August. I hope things get better before that.

I'm also in the same pool. Don't know if they're still hiring because I really want this job. Got a pool notification letter on Jan 2. Have not heard anything since.

I am in the pool for SP04 Ottawa, requisition 52895563. I received an email stating that pool was extended.

"This notice is to advise you that, due to ongoing business requirements, the pool duration has been extended until: October 31, 2020."

Did anyone get any offers? I'm hoping I get a call soon!

I also received the same letter yesterday about pool extension.

"This notice is to advise you that, due to ongoing business requirements, the pool has been extended until October 31, 2020."

This is a position in Surrey. Seems like they sent the letter to everyone. Anyone have any updates on this?

I emailed the HR officer attached to the email. I asked if there were really vacant positions and how likely it was for them to call candidates. This is the reply I got from the HR officer:

"At this time, we do not anticipate making further placements from this process, however our business needs may change as a result of the COVID 19 situation so the process is being extended should it be required in response to these changing needs."

So my guess is we just need to wait and see...

I am in the pool for the SP04 position in Surrey and I didn't receive the email. I checked my spam folder and my messages in the CRA website, but there is nothing there, either. So, they must have not sent this to everyone. I wonder why. :(

@TSRana,
So did CRA contact your references by emails or by telephone?

Thank you!!

---------------------

My references were also contacted and I got the confirmation that I am placed in the CS02 pool now till Dec 2020. Your username suggest that you are also in for Mainframe positions like me. Did you get placed in the pool? Also, what was your SJT score my friend?
Anyone else in this forum competing for req#53130211?

that implies that even we are luckily selected in the pool for 1 - 2 years, yet that does not imply that we will be selected in the end.

My references were contacted through email only. I was contacted by 3 managers in March and got verbal offers. I accepted one, but due to the pandemic, I got hung up.
Last week I was contacted and informed that several operations deemed critical have been resumed.
I got the offer and will be joining on 15th June.
So, keep trying guys, its a long shot but well worth trying !

What kind of people did you use for references? Just ex-employers or?
