Same price as in November 2022. The mine is always in the box waiting for the incoming spring. Save me a trip to PA.

For oil and gas, according to the manual, use unleaded gas only and It is best to use premium gasoline that has no ethanol content. Likely, Costco premium has no ethanol.

The manual recommends mixing fuel and 2 cycle oil with a 1:50 ratio, and using fuel stabilizer if the unit is not used for a long period of time.

I've never used the gas and oil mixture, not sure the impact of this ?

Not anymore, last night I have noticed there is a sticker on top of their Premium nozzle which indicates “contains Up to 10% ethanol”

If you're not already using mixed fuel for anything else, and are only gonna use a little bit in an infrequently used tool like this, just buy the premixed cans and don't worry about it.

Why would someone pay $10 per litter of gas if you can just get a 5 litter jug and $10 buys you 5x more of gas.
It takes like 10 seconds to mix your fuel with 2 cycle oil. I mix my oil in spring and it last for awhile .

I checked Costco the other day with the water bottle test. It definitely has ethanol now

Was talked about last thread, need a different auger profile. This one’s for dirt.

P.S. Bonus points for anyone that finds the extension bar for a good price/on sale. This won’t dig deep enough for the frost line

The 18" extension is on 'clearance' at PA for $50.
Not a great price for 18" of steel - but cheaper than full price

If you have any rocks in clay soil, even small rocks, this tiny auger will just be pain. Better to pay to rent something bigger and more powerful.
Even the tow behind hydraulic augers have issues with rocks in clay soil and get easily jammed. Ask me how I know.

This PA auger will probably be fine in sand and loose loam/non-clay soil, but I wouldn't expect it to be able to dig in anything harder, not with only 43cc.

Sometimes I feel https://www.homehardware.ca/en/6-univer ... /p/5212165 is the best option in clay soil, when you can't have a skidsteer mounted auger.

Advanced formula keeps fuel fresh for over 2 years after opened. add cost of stabilizer. + convenience

Thanks.. I bought the auger last year, and was waiting for a better price on the extension bar. If it's really a clearance, better to grab one now before they're gone!

Pretty easy to make with some steel pipe, some round bar stock and that $89 inverter welder you bought from PA last year ;)

No it specifically states in the manual not to use it for ice fishing. This has a comparatively dull blade compared to an ice fishing auger (doesn't need to be sharp to scrape through soil)
