Scene+ Rewards

I've been collecting Scene points for many years now through my Scotiabank Passport Visa and Scene card. Recently I installed the Scene+ phone app and tried to redeem points for some gift cards.

Does anyone else have issues trying to get more than one gift card at a time? There's a non-functional amount setting that is stuck on 1 which you cannot adjust. I got a $50 Shell gas card, but the app makes you wait like two days before you can get another? I guess I'm in no rush, but it just seems strange why they don't let you order more than one item. I've got like 170,000 points but can only use 5000 at a time every couple of days!

This wasn't an issue before but gift cards were removed several months ago (during an update) and returned a few weeks ago. Maybe they've slowed down the redemption, I haven't tried ...

I guess it's good so scammers can't just order a bunch at a time, but it's kind of inconvenient say if you want a bunch of gas cards quickly for a road trip or maybe to give as gifts.

I suppose one gift card a day keeps the scammers away?

Many Rewards Programs
Have restrictions on REDEEMING for GCs
So many (or so much $ value) per day etc

It indeed is a way to protect the Loyalty Program from fraud

So if GCs are your Redemption of choice, you gotta plan ahead

NOTE … Gas Giftcards
Likewise many Gas Apps also have restrictions on how many GCs can be loaded in the App at any one time

I recently installed the Esso App as I ordered a couple of $100 Esso gift cards redeemed through Telus Rewards points. It had no issue adding the two on. With gas prices these days, $50 doesn't go too far! Smiling Face With Open Mouth And Cold Sweat Oh well I calculated it will take 60 days to redeem all my Scene points at this rate. I'm going to have to set a two day reminder!

I'm using the app. Yes you can use the website as well. I just tried the website version, and it limits the gift card redemption too. Maybe it's one every 24 hours?

Good news! It looks like Scene has fixed the order one card at a time issue, plus they have added larger value gift cards that can be ordered!

You can order $250 Shell gas cards now if you want! They also have Atmosphere gift cards.

I’ve got about 25,000 scene points, what’s the best value for redemption? Is there better than using 1000 = $10 at Safeway/Sobeys or ever any Promos for gift card redemption?

IMExperience, Rare to see Scene+ ever offer anything of higher value than the standard 1000 Points = $ 10
(Mind you … we don’t go to the movies often … so I don’t know if that’s a DEAL OR NOT anymore @ Cineplex … was a time when it used to be )

So that pretty much leaves you with the regular REDEEMING channels

https://www.sceneplus.ca/how-it-works

Groceries, Restaurants, and GCs seem to be the most popular / easiest to access

I ordered a bunch of Shell gas gift cards. You can get Airmiles when filling up so it's like getting points with points. I also got some Ultimate dining cards. You can also spend points towards hotel stays/car rentals. The Scene app shows recent purchases on my Scotiabank visa passport card, and I can apply points to get a credit for those. Best I've seen is 1000 = $10 pretty much.

Points on Points = aka STACKING
Is a frickin awesome way to make one’s money go further

Scene+ Reward —-> Shell GCs … and be used at Shell to earn Airmiles

Scene+ Reward —-> Ultimate Dining GCs can be used at select restaurants in the Recipe Unlimited Group to earn more Scene+ Points

Scene+ Reward —-> used on Expedia can inturn earn more Scene+ Points

Scene+ Reward —-> using points to pay off / down a ScotiaBank CC … is usually not as good a value tho as some other rewards

Just a heads up warning - I applied some points to hotel stays I made with Expedia, but after 3 months they still have not appeared as a credit on my VISA statement. I've called a few times and got a case number with them making me call Scotiabank visa a few times. They've submitted some form so I have to wait another 2-3 weeks to hear back.

What a goofy system. Oh well, maybe I should have just kept redeeming the points for more gas/food cards as they came pretty quickly.

EDIT: my bad - the credit does show up under a BYOT descriptor on your Scotia Passport credit card statement.

Yes, receipt should show 'current balance' (prior to purchase) and 'points earned'. In a day or 2 (not sure exactly how long, I just keep checking the Scene App), check your Scene account to see transaction for points earned and new points balance.

I linked my Scene card to the Freshco app. How often does the Freshco app update the offers? Is it like the PC Optimum app where there's new offers every Thursday morning?

Yes . But what ever offers you have it’s a limit of 1. Not like PCO you can have as many as you want in 1 transaction unless there is a limit
