The new promos are out for td cash back visa and td travel visa. Cash back infinite seems worse as you don’t get 10% off all purchases, just gas, grocery and recurring payments. Travel visa seems better as you can earn 95000 points when you spend 5000 in 180 days+20,000 for account opening (115,000). I believe the previous amount was 80,000.

Am I correct in assuming that the "Travel" category for TD Aeroplan VIP doesn't include rental car spending?
Purchase of Gas, Grocery, Travel, or Dining or Air Canada Products means a Purchase of gas or gas station services or products or a Purchase of grocery or grocery items including those at grocery locations, or a Purchase of travel products and services including hotels, flights and vacations booked via a third party travel agency or website, or a Purchase of dining items including those at restaurants...

For the td travel visa credit of 100.00 is it cumulative purchases or a one time purchase? Is it annually?

I have 2 TD cards currently... First Class Infinite, and Aeroplan Infinite. Both have annual fees coming up around year end.
I recieved an email from TD offering "Switch and earn up to 50,000 TD Reward Points". The new card would be a TD Platinum Travel (with annual fee waived for first year).
If I took this offer to swich the FC Infinite, I believe the "TD Reward Points" are the same between the cards - so it would preserve my point balance give me more time to possibly use those points. Otherwise, I believe the current RFD recommendation is to use the RHT (ie. book travel, switch the card to a non TD Rewards point card, and then cancel the travel - in order to use up the TD Rewards points. Does this sound correct?
Alternatively, I could use this offer to get rid of the Aeroplan card, quickly get all the bonus points on the Platinum (I assume they would pool with the FC Infinite points?) and then do the RHT once to use up all TD Rewards points? (with a product switch to a different TD card for the FC Infinite)
Just trying to get caught up on the current state of best practices here with TD cards - but I don't see a downside to taking their "switch" offer to wrap up one of my existing cards (ie. it won't block me from doing other offers, etc.)

Sorry but i’m still confused.Does that mean 6 points*0.4=2.4% cash back? I’m feeling pretty stupid right about now. Thanks for reply though.

That is correct, the 2.4% (6*0.4) is when you redeem points towards any travel you book yourself. It's also worth 3% (6*0.5) if you redeem for travel via Expedia For TD. If you go for the actual TD cash back redemption option (statement credit towards any purchase) your return is only 1.5% (6*0.25)^
^ Not sure if RHT works for this card - maybe someone who has the FCT card can reply if it does work, if so, that's a route to receiving 2.4% actual cash back

Thanks both for explaining this to me . I am debating what to do. This card does have a good promo right now. However, i see if its 2 points for everyday purchases then it would only be 1% for expedia for td for that.. I’ll think about if i have-any major hotel purchases coming up.

Isn't there also a 10% birthday bonus? So effectively the return will be 2.64% for any travel, and 3.3% for Expedia for TD.

In order to receive the TD Travel Credit, the Account must be open, active and in Good Standing. An Eligible Travel Credit Purchase means:
• A Hotel, Motel, Lodging, or Vacation Rental Purchase of $500.00 CAD or more made with Expedia For TD; or
• A Vacation Package Purchase of $500.00 CAD or more made with Expedia For TD, that includes a Hotel, Motel, Lodging or Vacation Rental booking packaged with a transportation booking.
See your TD Rewards Program Terms and Conditions for more details.
Do you think if i paid for 2 hotels in one purchase that would qualify or do you know who i would phone about this?

I gotta say, TD must be the strictest bank in terms of managing consumer credits. Not only I had to go into the branch to get my Visa Aeroplan VIP approved, I just got a call from their fraud department because I charged over $7000 within 2 days since I got my card, lol.
