What do the "R" numbers mean on the stickers on refurbished items from Best Buy?

Hi,

I purchased a pair of refurbished eReaders from Best Buy and when they arrived they had stickers on them indicating they were refurbished. They are the same make and model. One had a blue sticker that said "R3 Refurbished" while the other had a yellow sticker that said "R2 Refurbished".

Does anyone know what the R numbers mean and why are they different?

Thanks!

I can't say for sure, but my guess would be that it's indicating revision?

For example, my Kobo ereader is R1 as I bought it when they launched. Shortly after they recoloured them. This would probably be R2. Then I believe they added wireless. R3?

That's only my best guess. Maybe someone else knows for sure ^_^

Well, the R numbers are not related to the product or manufacturer because they're on a sticker that Best Buy has put on the box. I'm guessing they relate to what was wrong with the product originally and why it was refurbished. It'd be interesting to know if that's true and what they mean.

well since FS and BB are both owned by BB I would imagine that things are similar at both stores. When i worked at FS refurbished items came from the manufacturer NOT from the store. The store or warehouse did not fix the item themselves and then sell it as refurbished. So the store would know nothing about what was originally wrong with the product or what was fixed on the product.
