Where to get discounted turkey?

Now that US Thanksgiving is over, will turkeys go on discount? I remember few years ago they went less than a dollar per pound. Cheapest flyer I see now is from Food Basics and it is $1.88/lb. Will it go any lower? Did I miss discounts after Canadian Thanksgiving?

Location is in GTA

Yup there’s a Turkey shortage

Avian Influenza is causing havoc in all things poultry these days … not just Turkeys, or Chickens

If we cannot get a bird this Christmas, we’ll be pulling out the ancestors Beef Wellington recipe I think

With so many Canadians cooking turkeys for Christmas don’t expect any sales until after then.
PS you should post your location when asking for deals on things like frozen food that need to be bought locally Canada is a big country and you could be in some far-distant place like Toronto for all we know.

Maybe people are finally catching on that turkey taste horrible and is one of the worst poultry choices. You just got so many more tasty birds.

US has them for $0.50/lb before turkey day. After it'll probably be cheaper if there's any left.
Do you not have anything else to do rather than argue with strangers on the internet
Nope. That's why I'm on the internet arguing with strangers. If I had anything better to do I'd probably be doing it.

Anyone spot any good Thanksgiving discounted turkeys in Toronto?

Stopped by an Etobicoke Loblaws, and saw fresh turkey was priced 50% off.

Can't decide whether to jump on this, or hope something better pops up.
Like maybe Costco?

We went with Chicken @ Costco this year …
(Smaller family gathering )

And I was sort of thankful, after I heard about the Turkey Recall on the news

Mind you …
It did say it was only a Western thing

I grabbed four birds. All around 5kg.
Around $5.60 for 5.12kg
My total was just over $21.
Note to self (entered in calendar for 2024): go to store early Tuesday morning for better selection.

What's funny is the contrast. This store has lots of frozen turkeys left, all being sold at full price.
Frozen 5-7kg range $39 for 1 frozen turkey.

As always, feel like an RFD champ when operation discount turkey is a success.
