Who has the best Pumpkin Pie?

Its that season.

I just bought a 3 dollar pumpkin pie from FreshCo and it satisfied my cravings. Any other suggestions? I know Apple Factory was another famous one.

Nothing beats homemade
And it’s super easy to do
Recipe is on every can of ED Smith canned pumpkin …
Or their premixed pumpkin pie filling

The NORTH
Costco has a mean pumpkin pie!

If you are up for a drive there is a pie shop in Perth, Ontario that makes AMAZING pies.

Perth Pie Co.

There is also a country bakery just outside Belleville Ontario called Taste of Country that makes amazing pies. Their website seems to be down but the address is 16 Roblin Rd, Belleville, ON

And of course if you are traveling up the 401 to Belleville or Perth you can't miss the Big Apple outside Cobourg.

I too eat cheap grocery store pumpkin pie. Something about the cheap stuff just taste good… still with a shot of whip cream.

Should pumpkin pie have ginger chunks in it?
I’ve never heard of chunks of anything in a pumpkin pie.
Then it got me thinking, if I were to have chunks in it why not take some inspiration from another pie?
Pumpkin Pecan Pie
Pecan Praline Pumpkin Pie

Pumpkin Pecan Pie
Pecan Praline Pumpkin Pie
I should try that. But remixed with pecans that have a sugary caramelized coating.

Both recipes have a sugary coating on the pecans. They will get caramelized while baking.
In fact have to be careful to not over brown/ caramelize the nuts in the second recipe (which I’m partial too) so they recommend adding the nut topping part way though the baking process.

+1 Costco, great choice. Delicious pumpkin pie, but I don't object to picking up a FreshCo pie either.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

The only thing I don't like about it is the gelatin layer on top but other than that it is a very good pie.

The "no chunks" lobby is definitely stronger than the "pro-chunks"
Lol, I was once told this when I dared to make a lovely pumpkin chiffon pie. I was also told that they were going to another Thanksgiving dinner the next day and would be having "real" pumpkin pie.

This, "gelatin layer", is moisture/sweating that occurs in home made pies.
Just the natural chemistry of the baking process.

I think it is just about Thanksgiving, people want a rote meal that is very familiar. Look at how much effort franchises put into uniformity. Any other day of the year those pies would get a pass.

Oh yeh true.
I’ve heard a similar debate over people substituting turkey with

-roast pig
-roast beef
-goose/duck
